Prepared surveillance reports to be issued to the contractor and ensured that non-conformances are addressed in a timely manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviewed assigned projects contract documents, IFC, and specifications and advised resident engineer for any deficiency.

Reviewed and approved contractor's submittals such as shop drawings, material submittal, method statements, calculations, sub-contractor pre-qualification, as-built drawing, spare parts, O&M & training Manuals for all related mechanical works to ensure compliance with the design intent and project contract requirements.

Checked and provided recommendations for the RFI’s and field design changes submitted by contractor with reference to contract specifications, IFC drawings, QCS, and applicable international standards. Assist and provide technical support and assessment to cost engineer, check variations and claims related to mechanical works raised by Contractor.

Regularly visits the construction site to ensure quality of work is being implemented in compliance with contract requirements. Ensure that contractor has secured approval of material submittals, method statement (MS), shop drawings, Quality Control Procedures (QCP) and Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) prior to commence construction activities.
Prepare and submit site observation reports for any deviation found to the assigned MEP Manager and Resident Engineer.

Regular spot checks of material delivered to site and direct the relevant Inspector/Engineer to continue inspection of stored materials on site to ensure it is as per approved materials and in good condition.

Ensured full coordination to other disciplines / Trades has been carried out for all External and Internal MEP services and advises the Resident Engineer for any deficiency.

Closely monitor the project site activities with respect to quality, safety, progress, and advise Resident Engineer for any findings, area of concerns, and corrective action.

Ensured all non-conformance issues (NCR) have been reported, attended, and signed-off accordingly.

Reviewed and assessed field design changes as submitted by the contractor and provide technical solutions to include recommendations by addressing any foreseen cost and time impact.

Provided technical support to planning engineer with respect to precedence of activities and optimum duration of each activity.

Attended technical meetings with the design consultant and contractor, as well as weekly coordination meetings.


Reviewed as-built drawings as submitted by contractor to be appropriately coordinated with the site inspection team to make sure that it matches all site changes. Witnessed pre-commissioning & commissioning related activities and ensure full compliance with project requirements.

Uploaded fire fighting System requirements and successfully obtained Qatar Civil Defence certification and approval for the assigned project.

 Reviewed design consultant’s submittals from concept design development up to the completion of the tendering formalities throughout the design phases of the project with respect to mechanical and other related requirements from other disciplines.

 Monitor and maintain the records of Design Consultant’s submittals in a timely manner and ensure design correctness and completeness with respect to end user’s requirements and the scope of works as stated on the contract.

 Reviewed mechanical related technical matters pertaining to design development and technical considerations including revision/updates as required.

 Reviewed and commented mechanical works related drawings and documents submitted by the Design Consultants and ensure that all changes and revisions has been considered and incorporated on the final document submittal.

 Proposed alternative materials/systems to improve the design intent, operation, maintenance and construction cost proceedings.
 Carried out value engineering and constructability review during the design stages as applicable.

 Reviewed and approved contractor’s method statements, technical submittals, operation and maintenance manuals, support & documentation, and testing activities related to mechanical installations, to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and end user requirements.

 Reviewed and evaluated short listed suitable firms, prepare recommendations to the Senior Architect/Coordinator and Project Managers regarding nomination and contractual arrangements of pre-qualified bidders.
